More than 100 years ago, the Bacharach family, with considerable community support, established a center dedicated to improving the quality of life for children with physical disabilities. Offering new, never before seen, state-of-the art rehabilitative services, Bacharach, in collaboration with the medical community, provided expert care for the children of South Jersey and the mid-Atlantic region in a nurturing environment.
Bacharach’s founding philosophy, “To provide expert, compassionate care,” served as the motivation to expand its care to include rehabilitative care for adults in the early 1970s.
Over time, thousands benefited from Bacharach’s rehabilitative know-how and experience, exemplifying the mission of promoting independence and dignity through excellence in care and service. Bacharach Rehabilitation’s reputation for excellence continued through its closing in 2023.
Despite many changes in healthcare, Bacharach remained faithful to its vision: leadership in progressive, accessible, regionally based programs of excellence in comprehensive rehabilitation. Thanks to the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to serving the community, the Bacharach legacy carries on well-beyond the walls of the original hospital and the rehab center.
